Administrative: Top 10 List

Jon Eidson (eidson@UNIX4.IS.TCU.EDU)
Mon, 17 Apr 1995 09:37:36 -0500

Just thought it time for your friendly reminder. This time I thought
I'd use David Letterman's "Top 10" format :-)

-------------------

This is a top ten list of problem-posters of a scouts-l listowner:

10. People with signature lines longer than any message
that they post (cause they didnt read the WECOME file)

9. People who have fancy email software that allows them
to type lines over 80 characters causing their messages
to be VERY hard to read (cause they didnt read the WECOME file)

8. People who post say "I dont want to beat a dead horse but ...".
If it is a "dead horse" let it rest in peace ;-)

7. People who post a message just to say "I agree" or some such
similar thing (cause they didnt read the WELCOME file)

6. People who quote full messages in their replys cause they dont
take the time to edit them (cause they didnt read the WELCOME file)

5. People who reply strongly to messages because they have forgotten
the scout oath/law (cause they didnt read the WELCOME file)

4. People who have not learned to use their email software well
enought to reply to individuals instead of the list (cause they
didnt read the WELCOME file)

3. People who dont unsubscribe from scouts-l before they lose their
email access causing me to get all their bounce email (ie one
per posting!)

2. People who post messages to the list say "How do I get off",
"How do I set the digest mode", ... (cause they didnt read the
WELCOME file)

and the number 1 problem-poster is

People who dont read (and abide by) the Scouts-L WELCOME file.
