Help! with Scouts Own

DEBBIE FREELE (debbie.freele@ONLINESYS.COM)
Thu, 13 Apr 1995 10:14:00 -0400

I was at a Camproree Planning Meeting the other night when
the darnedest thing happened.
They were asking for help with certain items, when my hand,
which has a strong mind of it's own, jumped up and
volunteered ME for putting on the Scouts Own. I have yet to
figure out why it did this, but now I'm stuck. I have never done
a Scouts Own before, and I don't have a great amount of
material to gather from.

What I'm asking you, my Scouting friends in cyberspace, is for
you to take a minute and send my your favorite story, poem,
song and or reading, that would be appropriate for a Scouts
Own.

To give you a little background, our Camporee theme this year
is Communication. It is attended by between 400 and 500
scouts and scouters from Ontario and a couple of states in the
US. This is Canada, so it is mixed, male and female. We also
have a wide diversity of religious / spiritual groups. I would like
to keep this non denominational. I would like it to reflect global
diversity. I also looking for pieces that have native or
aboriginal signifigence from around the world, since this is the
kick off year for the Decade of the Aboriganal Peoples.

I am also setting up a display on communications, computers
and Scouting on the Internet. I would like the Scouts and
Scouters see what a powerful tool for information this is. I
would like to credit you all with the pieces you send me, and I
will be keeping a file of this information. If I get enough to
make it worth while, I will put a file together for distribution to
this group.

Thank you for helping me with this project.

YiS,

P.S. Remind me to take a hammer and nails to my next event
meeting...so I can nail my hand down to the table. <GRIN> No
doubt my foot will find a way to get me involved!
