Re: Age Limits at Philmont and other camps

Bob,
I like your idea about conforming the Philmont age requirements to the
school year. However, instead of requiring confirmation of the school
district's date for determining admission, I would set a date (say,
Sept 1st) and then be somewhat flexible with later birthdates. For
example, if someone with a Sept 15th birthdate started school slightly
early, I would allow him to go with his friends in the same grade.
(However, I probably wouldn't allow someone who had skipped a grade and
was a full year younger to go.) There should be fewer exceptional
cases doing it this way, because the Scouts will want to go with their
friends. Good idea! Will you write Mr. Rigelman?
