Noisy camps

Our Troop's local camping spot is in an undeveloped township park adjacent
to the New Jersey Turnpike. With some attenuation of the noise by the
trees, the continuous traffic is more of a white noise than a disturbance.
The hum of the 450Kv power line is also a soothing influence.
The traffic noise is more noticeable when the traffic dies down in
the wee hours of the morning and there are long gaps between vehicles.
Then the Scoutmaster's legendary snoring can be heard. On our last Troop
trip 44 boys and men slept in a National Guard barracks with 48 bunks.
The Scoutmaster kindly passed out ear plugs to those sleeping near him.
These completely cut out the sound of talking boys and squeaking springs,
as well as reducing the sound of the snoring.
