Adults arbitrary decision making

Re: Full Uniforming & Po Folks -- it was mentioned that in a Pack the
Scouts wished to require full uniform, but the CM knocked down the idea
because he decided that jeans were good enough.

In my old pack at an early Committee meeting we were discussing how to
handle the Boy's Life fees at registration when an ACM stated that his kids
never looked at it, and he was sure that it was a waste of money to everyone.
He felt that the Pack shouldn't even bother offering Boy's Life as an
option. He felt it was too much trouble and nobody read it anyway. Boy, was
I glad that I was at that meeting!!! My son devours the magazine, and has
since Tiger Cubs, although there is probably less in there for them than any
of the age groups. I put in my two cents worth, and some of the other
leaders jumped on the bandwagon and saved our Pack's Boy's Life. This was at
a committe, so if this ACM had had his way, most of the parents would never
have even realized what had happened, until their boy's were haunting their
mailboxes waiting for an issue that was not going to show up!!
Adult Scouters need to remember that this is all for the BOY'S, let them in
on these important decisions - don't take their choices away from them
because of YOUR personal convictions!!

P.S. I wish more posts would include Unit # and location - just to get a
mental picture O.K.
