Class A uniforming

I for one find the heavy emphasis on complete uniforming to be
overbearing for many kids and their families. I feel that the scout
in the uniform is more important than the uniform on the scout. I
have a Webelos group of ten boys, none of whom own Cub Scout pants,
and I will never ask them to buy them. I feel that we are able to
well represent scouting in our "mostly" correct shirts (Not all
patches are exactly where they should be) and clean jeans or sweat
pants. The kids are active and frequently play soccer or another
game while we wait for others and asking them to all be in A
uniforms is not realistic.
If we want every boy to own and wear the full uniform, I'd suggest
that National set prices at cost. I am sure that the pants we buy
at the Servicenter cost considerably less than what we are paying
for them.
BTW, I usually wear the full uniform, including the pants with
cargo pockets. But, my waist size and length don't change every few
months the way the boys do.
