Another Cooking Problem

Well, Peeps, I'm embarased to say so, but I found out that I
wasn't quite as prepared as I should have been for my Wood Badge
campout.
Here is what happened. Our partol had figures that supper and
breakfast would be BYO, because of the different dietary habits.
I was designated to bring a stove for heating water (for coffee,
hot choc., or soup). When we got out to the Patrol camping site,
I discovered that a) Grass was 3-5 inches high, and b) there were
no rocks to set up on top of. Fortunately, one of the other guys
had brought his Coleman gas stove that was about 7 inches high,
so we were able to overcome that problem, but it still left me
somewhat embarrassed.
My stove is a StanSport that I bought at Popular Stores. I have
used it a number of times, and I have _never_ run across this
problem before. Incidentally, my stove stands only 3 inches high,
and is kind of open construction. If you aren't familiar with
the StanSport butane backpacker stove, it is _very_ similar to one
put out under the Scorpion II brand name.
So, fellow Leaders from around the world, What can I use to keep
the stove up off the ground whie cooking, so I won't start a range
fire? Any ideas??
