I game I have used and seen used is "Who Am I". There are numerous
variations of the game that can be tailored for the evenings theme. As each
person walks in, you put a name of something on their back and give them a
set of rules. The rules are as follows:
1) The object is to figure out "Who you are".
2) You can ask other participants questions.
3) The only answers you can give to a question are "Yes", "No", and "I Don't
Know"
4) You can ask any one participant no more than three questions.
As for what the names on the backs are, depends on the evenings theme. For
example, one evening I was doing nature. The cards I put on peoples backs
were things like: Pine, Wolf, Moss, Quartz, Poison Ivy, Bear, . . . One
time we used all cartoon characters. It can be done with about any theme
you can think of. The great thing about this game is it gets the
participants thinking about the evenings theme!
You might ask how do you attach the names to the peoples back. The two
methods I have seen are Post-Its and safety-pins. Post-Its are fast and
easy, but they frequently fell off, revealing the persons identity to
himself. The pins work better but some people do not like pins in their
backs! They are also harder to place on them. I'm sure somebody on the
list has a better idea. (How about using a string?)
