Re: Age for joining Boy Scouts

Fred...

We had a similar situation a year or so ago in my son's Webelos den. One
of the boys would be turning 11 in November, but was just finishing 4th
grade. He was also nowhere near getting his ARrow of Light. We were told
by the Council, very emphatically, that he could not join Boy Scouts until
his 11th birthday. However, (and I don't know how this applies to summer
camp) boys *are* allowed to attend Boy Scout activities for the purposes
of encouraging them to join. Again, this may be a problem because of his age.
check with your Council Exec. There may be a work-around (i.e., if one of
his parents came along).
