Re: Age for joining Boy Scouts

Fred,

Since the Boy Scout application is pretty clear the answer is probably no way
but check with your Unit and District Commissioners and Scout Professional.
My 7/92 version reads:

"Your son can be a Scout if he has completed the fifth grade, or is 11 years
old, or has earned the Arrow of Light Award, but is younger than 18 years of
age."

I may be biased as a current cub leader but I would welcome that youth into
my pack for one year of Webelos. He could attend residential Webelos Camp
with us and get AOL by his birthday and join the troop either in Nov or when
the other second year boys "bridge" at Webelos Woods next April in plenty of
time for Troop Summer Camp next year. Remember he gets to wear that AOL as
both a Scout and Scouter and it should prep him well for entry into your
unit.
