Hello,
This past Sunday I had the good fortune to accompany few Eagle scouts
to annual council recognition ceremony.
It was held in Dallas, Texas. Mayor Steve Bartlett was the keynote
speaker. His talk focused on how the communities are returning to
some of the basic values that Boy Scouting has been promoting and
practicing all along. Mayor Bartlett chaired a community town hall
sessions that gathered input from the citizenry on what was important
to them and their children. Some points of the scout law were
universally agreed upon were, kindness, trustworthy, friendly,
helpful, Eighty percent agreed with reverent.
There were 489 Eagle Scouts in the class of 1994 for Circle Ten
Council. It was announced that was the largest class ever achieved in
the history of BSA. Billy Gamble ,the Scout Executive, issued to each
scout present a Certificate of Commendation from Texas Governor George
Bush.
At Troop 713 we had a very good year with 5 boys completing the trail
to eagle. They were P.J. Patterson, Michael Tovar, Chip Hemmenway,
Karl Schmidt and Mark Covington (Nov 94).
Last week 2 more of our boys completed their District Eagle Board of
Review to join the class of 1995.
I thought you would like to know, alittle about my boys.
