HELP! Need embroidery co. suggestions

Hello all!

Let me start off by apologizing if this post is a bit long, but I would
like to give some background on what we are doing in the hopes of
perhaps getting other suggestions and maybe giving somebody out there
some ideas of what could be done in other units.

This all started in July/August of last year, when we (the troop
committee and the assistant scoutmasters collectively) started
formulating a plan to help raise money for troop operations and
encourage more participation in our troop good turns.

Last summer, our local Wal-Mart asked us if we would be interested in
putting on a fundraiser outside of their store for a weekend.
Recognizing the potential of this situation, we agreed and started
planning our event out. In June, the week before we headed out to
summer camp, we put on a very educational event for the community
and a fairly profitable event for our troop operations. Feeling that
much of the reason the event was so good rested on the participation
from several of our scouts, we decided to set out to give them some
kind of special recognition.

After a few weeks of consideration, we decided that we would put
together a very special troop neckerchief that could only be earned
by participating in the service to community and troop brought about
by the Wal-Mart event (by this time we were given strong indications
that this weekend fundraiser/community scouting awareness event would
become an annual thing for our troop). After a few more weeks of
consideration, we came up with a terriffic design-- a camping scene--
which would be embroidered onto the tail of the neckerchief (it would
consume almost the entire exposed tail when it was worn-- if you're
interested in seeing it, drop me a note and I'll send you a copy).

After coming up with the design, we then proceeded to a local business
involved with embroidering things like this onto sweatshirts, caps,
windbreakers, etc. and were told that it would be no problem to have
a neckerchief made with this design embroidered onto it, as long as we
were able to provide dimensions for the neckerchief along with an
example for them to work from. We happily provided all of this to
the company and assumed that they would begin working on the design.
This was about the beginning-mid October. A troop committee member and
I were placed in charge of overseeing this project and reporting the
progress back to the committee, with the hopes of presenting the
neckerchief to the scouts at the fall/winter court of honor.

Unfortunately, the owner kept putting our project off. We had a hard
time getting ahold of him-- he never returned our phone calls and was
almost always out of town when we stopped in at his business to talk
to him about what progress had been made. The beginning of last month,
we finally got upset enough that we went to his business and waited
for over an hour for him to come in one afternoon. We started to see
some results-- he finally started on our job, with the understanding
that it would be ready by last night (last night was our spring COH)
so that we could present this long-delayed recognition to our scouts.

Yesterday afternoon I received a telephone call from him telling us
that he did not think that he was able to put a neckerchief together
for us and do our embroidery on it. He said that the project turned
out to be too difficult for him. He said that he wasn't able to find
the right material for the neckerchief, and that he wasn't sure how
he would go about embroidering our scene onto it if he ever did locate
the proper material. Needless to say, we were very disappointed that
our centerpiece for the evening was delayed once more. This was the
last straw. Yesterday, we decided to start considering other places
to go to for the neckerchief once more. So now we're back to square
one.

********************************
My question is this:
Does ANYBODY out there know of a place where we can go to get our
neckerchiefs made? Cost isn't a major factor, as far as that goes
(we were currently planning to spend between $10 - $15 per
neckerchief anyway-- I told you that we wanted it to be something
special!)

Please, if you know of any place, drop me a line-- either through
Scouts-L or via private message. We did want to stay local, but
are now willing to consider any alternative, as long as we can get
these neckerchiefs done.

Thanks for the help in advance. And once again, sorry about the
long posting-- just thought it was necessary to give the background
here.

YiS,
Chris
