Ex-Leaders

I recsome discussion on organisations for ex-leaders and others interested
in helping scouting but unfortunatley have not kept them.

I am wanting to start an organisation in our local Scout Disctrict (5 groups,
around 400 youth members) so that those leaders who would still be prepared to
help scouting have a way of getting together for both social meetings and
occasional assistance.

I am _not_ targeting those who would be better joining Rovers (and that
complicates things a bit because we are just going through a change in the
age limits for Rovers). The BP Guild in New Zealand should be able to be used
for what I want, but unfortunately they are not active in my District, and
do not have the right "image" with some ex-leaders who think that you need to
be over 70 to join the BP Guild!

I would be interested in what Scouting elsewhere in the world is doing to
make use of the goodwill and time of "ex-Scouters". From memory Victoria
in Australia had something going, and there are various "Alumni" groups
in the United States. Of particular interest are funding arragements,
whether the organisation is officially connected to the Scouting
organisation, and whether members retain the right to wear Scout uniform.
