Australian Guide Biscuts

G'day All,

Just toadd a Australian veiw on Guide Biscuts, after selling them for about ten
years (then people wonder why Guide Leaders start to put on weight over the
years (-:)

The Guide Association for many years had only one plain varitey biscut
(Vanilla) Which were also extreamly nice....We had to sell lots in our place
(Well, Mum did have to have 2 daughters 2 years apart didn't she!) They for
many years were made in New Zealand and distrubited through out Australia and
New Zealand as well. Then we stopped that and started buying Australian Made.
It is alright in theory, but the taste, yuck. Not as nice. Any how, the year
before I left they wentback to Cadbury and started buying theirs again (Yes,
they are the company involved with it)

Last year, they finnaly decided to let everyone sell a box of plain biscuts and
one of Choc backed ones. It had been restricted to the Eastern States on a
trail basis and then went national..... And the Choclate ones are defianatly my
favorite.....And I think Alan loves them as well.

And this brings me to my next point, I still buy them, even though I have not
been in Guiding for over 5 years now. I guess I can rember how hard they can be
to sell. Mum ended up with ten pckets in the pantry one year as I bought a few,
Dad bought some and Kate (Sister) discovered them selling in Wollies
(Woolworths, a national Supermarket chain. Wollies for short. A good Aussie
custom, abreviate everything possialbe!) We all still buy them as well when we
get the chance to... I have also now got Alan buying them. He bought a packet
and then decided they were nice and I have not had to worry about bringing home
a back (especially the choclate ones!)

Also, I discovered a use for them one year. the plain ones got used one wet
misrable night at Cubs when we bought them, cake icing, smarties, and other
sweets and use the GuideBiscutsas backing. They are actually one of the few
biscuts you can do that on and do it well. My previous Cub Pack has a Parent
who is a Guide leader and she has toorder 4 boxes alone for the Scout Group.
Her husband is the GL and just adds the words "Guide Biscut Season" to a group
newsletter and they sell.
