JAMBOREE PRESIDENTIAL VISITS

Wes,
You're wrong about presidential visits to Jamborees. I can
only attest to the National Jamborees since 1977. The only
jamboree a president has visited since 1977 was 1989 when
President Bush visited. Indeed, Mr. Bush's visit was pretty
unexpected and happened at a time when normal jamboree activities
should have been happening (a weekday morning as I recall).
While it did mess up schedules, I think everyone appreciated the
visit.
Too bad that Messers Carter, Reagan, and Clinton haven't
taken the short hop and visit with us. Well, maybe next time.
