NO THEY ARE NOT AT ALL DIFFERENT:
Car:
1. You can not get insurance against death and collect on it when you and
and you family are run over by a truck.
2. Law Suits are the least important problem. They can be appealed!
Physical and Neural Disfigurement can not be explained away or appealed.
Death can not be appealed.
3. How will you support your family after you are all killed in a fatal accident?
4. That is true, THEY ARE DEAD TOO.
5. The car insurance company will do nothing because the custormer is dead.

NOT TRUE (At least in our council) this was covered at Basic Training and
Roundtables. I also remember hearing about liability minimilization at
Schiff National Junior Leaders Training, clear back in the 60s.

This is a severe charge. I have yet to see BSA leave anyone hanging high
and dry. (Granted my experience is limited. Do you have any examples?)

This is true but you are more likely to be killed by a drunk driver.

Not if you follow the youth protection guidelines to the letter.

Why not? Do you have any examples?

What does this have to do with Scouting? The education system does not follow
our guidelines. Perhaps your wife should quit teaching school to avoid the
risk that such a terrible charge might be leveled against her?

So do I, but I like moral principle even more. In the end, I will not have to
answer to my financial standing that insurance protects, I will have to answer
for my moral decisions to do or not to do what is right, reguardless of the
consequences.

A Scout IS
Trustworthy, LOYAL, HELPFUL, FRIENDLY, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, CHEERFULL,
Thrifty, (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRAVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), Clean and REVERENT.

On My Honor, I will DO MY BEST
To do my DUTY to GOD and my COUNTRY
To obey the Scout Law
TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE AT ALL TIMES <<<<-------------<<<<
To keep myself physically strong
Mentaly awake and MORALY STRIAGHT.

Again I think these say it all or should we change them to:

********************************************************************************
********************************************************************************
**
** A Slug is
** Unreliable
** Undependable
** Helpful when it is to his advantage.
** Friendly as long as no demands are made
** Insulted
** Threatening
** Obedient like a cat
** Cynical
** Miserly
** Cowardly
** Perverted
** and
** Hedonistic
**
** I think that
** I will try to do nice things, unless someone threatens me.
** I will help other people when I feel comfortable, and it is to my advantage.
** And bend with every blow of the breeze
**
********************************************************************************
********************************************************************************

Have we lost our capacity for moral outrage and principle?
Are our decisions of life to be made on the basis of the easy way
instead of right and wrong?

I hope not, I pray not, With God's help, I WILL NOT contribute to social
decay.

Sorry, but to me this is a black and white, right or wrong, moral or immoral
issue.

Since it appears that I am either preaching to the choir or shouting to the wind,
depending on which of you are listening at the moment. This will be my last posting
on this subject. I have nothing more to say and will return to lurking untill
I am awakened again.
