Now here's our problem...this committee member has a boy who
>is in the first year of Webelos--he's in fourth grade. She pointed
>out that he is actually a year older than most 4th graders--he's
>already ten and will be 11 this summer. She wants him to earn his AOL
>soon after school starts in the fall and have us arrange a special
>AOL ceremony for him so he can move into boy scouts during
>
>First you need to remember why we are all in scouting and that is the boy.
Then, go back and read your Leadership guides and Advancement Book. Remember
that at age 11 a young man can join a Troop without the Arrow of Light.

How hard would it be to do something for the boy? Forget MOM, if you cross
him over she will be gone also.

Go read the Webelos book also. I believe that it say that the boy can have
his Arrow of Light at 10 1/2 years of age.

Good luck,

Yours in Scouting,
