Taken From The AP Wire as appeared in the Monday edition of the
Virginia-Pilot & Ledger Star:
Three Atlanta Boy Scouts drowned in the rain swolen waters of a creek in
the Pisgah National Forest near Lenoir, NC. They were trying to cross a
foot bridge, when it apparently dipped into the water due to thier
weight. The current then destroyed the bridge and swept the boys
downstream. One body was found a 1/4 mile down on Saturday and the other
two were found on Sunday 1/2 mile apart. There were 7 boys and 3 leaders
on this camping trip at one of the leaders' cabin. The boys were
reported as tryiing to get to a general store to buy candy. The boys were:
Jacob Wine, 14
Gerard Gasque, 14
Kevin DuVall, 15
A quote from Paul Wine, Jacob's father: "Jacob really enjoyed doing these
things. He and the other two kids just got careless this time, and
that's really all there is to say."
We have been seeing this story in Norfolk, VA for two days here. I read
this list in digest mode, so I aplogize for any possible duplication. If
any one would like too have a copy of this article, I can scan it (with
appropriate credits) and email it.
