Introducing Myself

Hi all:
I have just subscribed to SCOUTS-L and would like to briefly introduce myself:
As you can see from the signature, I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and
from a recent new subscriber's intro, I am not the only one from Calgary on
the list.
I am originally from York, England where I was involved with scouts and
Venturers. I came to Canada in 1967 and have lived in Calgary since then.
Apart for about 6 years whilst at university (Calgary) I was fully involved
with scouting in the Calgary Region. Briefly as follows:
* ADC Mountain Road District
* Assistant Scoutleader in Silver Springs (Calgary)
* Trainer I Calgary Regional Council - Scouts
* Trainer II Calgary Regional Council - Venturers
* Calgary Regional Council Training Team
* Venturer Advisor in Silver Springs
In 1988 I retired from active scouting and am now a member of the 8th.
Canadian B.-P. Guild (a member guild of the Canadian Fellowship of B.-P.
Guilds). I have served a term a Assistant Guildmaster and Guildmaster.
Membership in the Guild is usually composed of retired scouters and guiders or
people who are not active in scouting for one reason or another. The guilds
are service oriented and are willing to help any group where needed. One of
our current projects is helping with the Cochrane Wildlife Reserve where a
program to breed swift foxes has been continuing for the past 10 years. Each
year swift foxes are released back to the prairies, and it looks as though the
program will be successful when it winds-up in about 3 years.
I am presently employed by the Government of Alberta where I am a biologist
with Environmental Protection specifically dealing with and regulating
pesticide use in the province.
Enough before I bore you any further. I would not doubt that two or three
other guild members in Canada will shortly be subscribing to this listserver.
