Co'ed': (n) A female college student. [New Concise Dictionary]

By definition it is a female college student. By usage it has become =
associated with organizations that refer to the 'addition of females' to a =
specific program.

In Scouting & wishing you a merry Christmas . . .

Only in America.
When I went to University (years ago) we never referred
to females by the term co-ed.
Here in Canada Co-ed means an "educational" programme
that has both female and male participants.

BTW your terms for secondary education (high school)
are not always clear, for example Sophmore (sp?). I have
no idea whether your school system has a three year, four
year or a five year secondary programme. Here in Canada
Quebec has a three year programme, Ontario has a five
year programme if your are going to University or a four
year programme if your are going to a college. Most
other provinces have a four your programme of secondary
education. If someone wish to fill in the Quebec info
on CEGEEP please feel free to do so. (Patrick Lam are
you out there?)

Isn't nice to know that we are divided by a common
language. <G>

Cheers
