Re: Let them be offended??

John,

Thanks for your reply. I will of course take you at your word that you are
not convinced that you always right. I'm not always right. None of us are.
But much of my concern about comments on the list are not just about the
Christmas greeting. About this I am as light as the next guy :) Correct me
(please) if I am wrong, but I remember a post concerning homosexuality. In
this post, I think you were NOT being patient, and it seemed to me that your
attitude was not one of tolerance. I realize that you probably were stating
(unfortunately in my mind) the BSA stand on homosexuality.

Be that as it may, my post yesterday was not only directed at you. I may not
have said it well, but I was trying to say that, as leaders of young people,
our views are known to the kids who we lead. We can't hide them. When we are
intolerant of others, I am afraid for the views of the kids as they grow up
in this world. It's very tough to get along in our society, and it will be
nearly impossible if we isolate ourselves from others by our words and deeds.
Sorry to preach, but as I said, I am a very new Cub Scout leader, and I want
to believe the very best of the organization and people associated with it.
We have a very important and difficult responsibility to the kids. Thanks for
listening.
