Introduction

KEVIN O CONNELL ENG DEPT (KEVIN.OCONNELL@UCG.IE)
Tue, 13 Dec 1994 09:56:23 +0000

Greetings from the west of Ireland

Friends in scouting,
As a new subscriber to this list I just wish to introduce myself
to everyone out there. My name is Kevin O'Connell (universally called
Kevo) and I am an assistant scout leader (ASL) with the 8th Galway (Oranmore)
Scout Troop of the Danann district of the Scout Association of Ireland. Our
scout troop has 24 scouts ( 16 boys, 8 girls ) and 4 leaders. I have been
active as a leader for just over a year but was involved in scouting as a cub
and scout between 1979 and 1989. I attended an international jamboree in
Ireland in 1985 (PortMUDna '85) where my troop was twinned with a BSA troop.
Unfortunately I cannot remember which one. Our troop is now quite active and
regularly go for hikes in the hills of the burren and connemara.
My E-mail address is KEVIN.OCONNELL@UCG.IE which is at University
College Galway where I am studying for a masters degree in civil engineering.
I am 22 years of age and worked as a civil engineer for a year after
graduating in 1993 before returning to start postgraduate study this year.
Finally, although I have just caught the end of the seasons greetings
saga, I cannot end without a greeting in the Irish language. 'Go mairimid
beo ag an am seo aris' which literally translated means 'may we all be alive
this time next year' though the translation does not do justice to the
essence of the greeting which is a wish for good health and happiness
to all.

Slainte,
Kevo.
