Let me introduce myself (again, for the very second time)

HI,

My name is Steve Burch. I have been, for the last ? years been Committee
Chairman for Boy Scout Troop 88 in the Rocky Mountain District, Colorado
Springs, CO. On September 9th of this year I became one of the latest
casualties of Digital Equipment Corp.'s Corporate reductions and I had to
leave SCOUTS-L. Two things that I am glad about.

1. That Digital layed me off, enabling me to get a better Job.
2. being able to get back on SCOUTS-L

I missed a lot of the excellent discussion on Eagle Scouting ideas, camp
songs, activities, where the best scouting clip art is, who is doing what with
with how many scouts, what different high adventure camps are like, where are
the best places to take scouts, etc.

I didn't miss the wasted time passing over useless, and fruitless discussions
on "Gay ...", "Women in/out of Scouting...", "Men in/out of Scouting...",
"...hate...", etc. Those discussions, if they are important at all, should be
directed where they may do some good, the National Scouting Council, etc... I
see SCOUTS-L as an excellent place to discover how to better our own local
Scouting programs by gleening good stuff from those leaders, and professional
scouters who have already walked in those paths.

I am looking forward to being on this "Electronic Roundtable" again. I
understand that there will be "Flame" type things that I will need to scroll
over. Things that add no value to the medium. I will do that when necessary.
I do it at our local Roundtable. You do too. My greatest hope is that the
Gems that I find here will be worth the deadpan that I dig through.

Looking forward to the Roundtable again.

Steve Burch
