Howdy all!
I've finally gotten around to this part but I want to say first how much
I've enjoyed what I've seen so far. I have been able to gleen some very good
ideas and gotten a much better idea of some difficult issues - keep up the
communications!
So, now a little about me. I am currently the Cubmaster of a Pack here
in Colorado. My pack is presently at 60+ and continues to grow mainly as a
result of the great adult participation and the support of the Chartering
Institution. All three of my sons are in the Pack - two of them in the
Webelos den and the other in a Wolf den.
Previously, I was a Pack Committee Chair in Europe and as a boy I was
very active in Boy Scouts - Cubbing didn't do much for me then. I am an
Eagle Scout and Vigil in the OA. I served as a member of the Service Corp
for the 13th World Jamboree, was the President of an Explorer Post, and
worked very closely with the OA lodge. I've attended National conferences,
area conferences, camporees, and a whole host of other events, but never have
made it to Philmont. Living in Colorado now - I have no more excuses.
I have now become very active on the district level serving on the
activities committee and the FOS committee. So what do I do in my real life?
I am the Systems Manager for a large manufacture of air conditioning
equipment. Keeping all the computers happy and alive in a 24 hour a day
operation makes for some interesting hours. In addition to that I take care
of the telephone switch (it has a computer in it), and the paging system
(still not sure how I got that one). Presently, I am involved in a project
to re-engineer our entire global information highway and "blowing up"
mainframe systems for client/servers. Oh, what fun!
My hobby is "Mr. Fixit" as my kids call me, but truth be known I really
enjoy golf. Mind you, I'm not very good at it but I have a lot of fun at it.
My entire family does a lot of camping, and hiking in these beautiful
Colorado mountains (which explains why my golf game is lousy) and we do
geneology research. And this year I have promised my kids I'll try my hand
(or is it leg) at snow sking.
Well, that should be more than you ever wanted to know. Keep those good
ideas coming.
Yours in Scouting,
Arnie L. Carlsen
