Re: Gay Scouting

WARNING: ** (SOAPBOX ON) **

For everyone else out there who has the intelligence not to respond, I'm very
sorry to bother you with this message.

But can we PLEASE drop this thread!

This is exactly the kind of stuff that lowered rec.scouting's reputation, and,
consequently, its participation. I've been on this list a little over a year
now and have enjoyed getting quite a bit of information from it-- the last
thing I want to see happen is for this list to turn into another flame war
central like rec.scouting did. If you feel compelled to discuss this issue
further, take it back to rec.scouting, or, better yet, to private e-mail. But
let the rest of us who have better things to do and discuss get on with the
betterment of this never-ending roundtable.

BSA policy about homosexuals is what it is, and no amount of discussion,
whether it be on this list, rec.scouting, or any other place short of the
national office will force it to be changed. So let's quit talking about
something that can't be changed and focus on how we can make this program
better for our youth participants.

Again, to those of you who haven't posted on this and don't intend to post:
I'm sorry for the use of bandwidth, but I felt I needed to get my perspective
on this whole off-topic mess out in the open.

** (SOAPBOX OFF) **

I am, as always,
YiS,
Chris
