<This is my main question. Should Moms go to Camp?
Yes! As long as they go along as a leader as opposed to an observer. BSA
no longer limits the position of scoutmaster to men only, and women have
always been able to serve as committee members. Remember, it's the role of
the committee to review and approve the troop's program as well as oversee
its implementation. If "moms" can direct the activities of a troop, why
shouldn't they be allowed to contribute to the operation of a BSA Camp? In
fact, last summer, our summer camp commissioner was the mother of one of the
boys in my troop (the year before that, the commissioner was the same boy's
father - they simply love the opportunity to contribute) Furthermore, the
camp director was a mother. (The camp director is also a wood badge
recipient and is currently serving as a DE).
