Absolutely!!
One of our Assistant Scoutmasters has one son in the troop and another who
received his Eagle several years ago and is in the Army now. In the summer
1993 she and two other men were the only ones able to stay for the whole
summer camp.(This last summer she could only go 4 days because of work.)
Others could only manage 2-3 days off work. She was a good influence on the
boys and, being the Advancement Chairman, was able to keep accurate records
of what each Scout did, and did not, accomplish while at camp.
She has been through Scoutmaster Fundamentals training and has been a
positive influence on the adult members of the troop by reminding them of
what Scouting is all about. She is very consciencious about what she
teaches the boys and generally does as well or better than many of the men.
Encourage more Moms - Scout summer camp shouldn't be that mysterious.
