Re: BSA:Women at camp

Let them go to camp. However, just like any other leader in camp, TRAIN
THEM. Show them the Fast Start tape. Sgn them up as a Committee Member or
Asst. Scoutmaster. Get them involved in the total program. Get them to
roundtable. Get them to talk with other adults at roundtable. Introduce
them to the District Activities Chair. May be they get on an activity and
learn even more on running a Scouting Event.

In other words, give them the chance to become part of the solution, not the
problem. If they think they can do better...GREAT. Give them a chance to
prove it. We all in Scouting learn from failures...youth and adults.

Get her and any others involved and watch them learn. Do this for all
leaders. Get that Committee Chair out of there seats and out on a campout.
What about that Chartered Partner Rep., get them out with the unit.

I remember the first time I went through the old SLBT, the new scoutmaster
goes to summer camp and complains about the road not being paved. By the end
of the week, even though he is a road paving contracting, he now would never
pave the road.

The uneducated need to be educated...all of us. We all need to learn
something new everyday. Help those who may have lost sight of that simple
goal and soon you will have an even great friend.

Why I have even thought about joining up with a Girl Scout Troop and learn
Scouting from that point of view. I am sure GSA has something to teach me
and I too may have something to give back.

The District Training Chair says, "Train, Train Train." I say, "Learn,
Learn, Learn."

YiS,
