I would also question the credibility of a magazine that published a
story like this. In my experience with Girl Scouting, it would suprise
me that this happened. GSUSA publishes the "Safety Wise" manual which
has their standard guidelines. The guidelines on sensitive issues state
that parents are to have sensitive issues discussed with them ahead of
time and are to sign permission slips before their daughters can
participate in senstive or controversial issues. In their contemporary
issues serise of booklets, even the booklet on science and math is
considered a controversial enough issue to require parental signature.
