Re: USA: Religious Emblem Programs

Michael,

I want to second Mike Walton in saluting your polite, scholarly, and
comprehensive explanation on religious emblem requirements.

It was not my intent to suggest that a reference list of requirements
be used in place of going directly to P.R.A.Y. or other sources, once
the Scout had decided to work on the award. In fact, I maintain that
a copy of the application for the Aleph or the Ner Tamid, the two awards
I have experience with, is not acceptable; the Scout must present an
original application from the pamphlet.

My motivation for this is to be able to respond to the Scout who comes
up to me and asks, "What do I need to do to earn my ------- award?"
Because the requirements come from such a variety of sources and are
subject to change without my being aware of the change, I would definitely
welcome a reference resource, and you can put me down for a copy of
the book you described. I know a number of other people here who would
be willing to do the same.

Please keep us posted as to the progress of the project and the
availability of the finished product.

Once again, thank you for your thoughtful and informative response.
