The problem of convincing women that they can make good Webelos leaders
is a common problem. We have had several women make good Webelos
leaders, but it always took a lot of convincing. I gave the following
information to our Den leaders when I was Cubmaster. (I had also been
asst. Den Leader and Asst. Webelos leader.)
A Webelos leader doesn't need to be an expert in all areas; I'm not sure
it's possible. That's what parent volunteers are for. (If you haven't
used the survey forms the parents filled out when you first strated as
Wolves, now is a good time to start.) If your strong area isn't camping,
get a parent to volunteer to help with the campouts. Campouts are
parent and son any way. The leaders in our den had a camping
background, but we needed help in other areas (for example leather
working for Craftsman).
