Mike Holmes and Kerry Sipes took issue with Mike Walton on whether BSA set
the requirements for all of the knots. In the case of religious award
knots, BSA sets the requirement that the youth receipient of the silver
square knot on a purple background have received a youth religious emblem
or that an adult receipient of the purple square knot on a silver
background have recieved an adult religious award (sorry the mentor award
does not qualify). The requirements for the religious emblems and adult
awards are set by the religious organizations and not by BSA. BSA does
however, review the requirements of each and the design of the emblem
before authorizing the emblem for wear on the uniform.
