For clarification, after confirming with my DE, the confusion of
registration a lad from the age of 18 to 21 deals with liability.
After 18, the lad can only register for ASM. As Mike Walton and
others have pointed out, other positions were available but, not
longer. Currently, the only option calls for the 18-21 to register
as an ASM.
The confusion from the CC, deals with what MY DE told me, and that
concerns the area of the leadership of the 18-21 ASM. Although, the
lad may be registered as an ASM, he can NOT lead or be alone with the
Scouts. It has nothing to do with 2-deep leadership, it deals with
liability. If there were a situation where another Scout was injured
with the ASM being the only one present, the Unit faces the
possibilities of legal problems.
