We tried Al Woltz's "helter skelter" auction once but found that the boys
did not want to give up ANY money without something in return. Several
months later, at a charity fund raiser with adults who understood what was
happening, we collected a bit over $27,000 in less than two hours. We had
a $10,000 goal but managed to spend the whole amount--after we picked
ourselves up off the floor.
