RE: Groups calling themselves "Former Boy Scouts" are (IMO) in a risky
situation. I doubt that BSA will recognized them (especially with CSR
defunct) and without BSA recognition they are violating BSA's
copyright
How does the International Organization of Former Scouts and Guides
(IOFSAG) do it without copyright violation? I know IOFSAG has been
around for decades and their journal serves as kind of a common sense
bridge between the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and those Scouts/Guides in
former Scouting Country (i.e. the "Scouts in Exile" infrastructure for
Cuba, Russia, Czech, and (formerly) Hungary.) Unfortunately, the
WOSM/WAGGGS (and their respective organizations -- BSA, GSUSA, CSA,
etc.) never talk about the "Exiled Scout/Guide organizations).
Legally, they cannot. Scouting/Guiding must have the government's
permission in order to officially exist in any nation. Does anyone
else have knowledge about the "Scouts in Exile" groups?
