Bob Drueckhammer suggests looking at the Insignia Guide for "knots." The
Guide does have descriptions of the knots, but the Scoutmaster Handbook has
photographs of them. It may be easier to use. Also it's more likely that a
scouter would have the latter than the former.
Also, as M. Walton says, there is no description of the requirements. That
is because some are given out by non-scouting organizations -- religious
organizations, unions, the Urban League -- for example. These organizations
set the guidelines, not the BSA; though the BSA can tell you where to get
them.
