Bill Blair asked about "groups" of units. In my original council, we
had several associated units -- same sponsor for pack, troop and post.
One group I remember had a CM who was ASM and AA, a SM who was ACM and AA,
and an EA who was ACM and ASM. If the letters confuse, three men each
took one primary position and two assistant positions. The committees were
similar with some people serving on all and some on only one or two. I
thought it worked well.
My pack, troop and post had the same sponsor but most of the committees
were different. I think this was because the focus of the programs was
so different. We coordinated some activities but mostly operated
independently.
I prefer the latter so we can focus more on the specific needs of the
unit--pack, troop or post. BTW, in the 'old' days, troops and posts were
often common committees in my district.
