It wasn't germane to my posting, so I did not mention that:
1) All of our district and council events accomodate the LDS strictures on
traveling on Sunday, by design.
2) We have what amounts to an LDS week at our summer camp. Some LDS Troops
choose to camp during that week. Others camp during the other sessions.
3) LDS Scouters are not discriminated against in our District. Indeed,
this year both our District Chairman and our District Commissioner are
LDS.
4) LDS leaders participate fully in district and council training events.
5) Non LDS Scouts participate fully in the annual LDS Merit Badge Midway,
by longstanding invitation.
6) Non-LDS Scouters instruct some of the "Little Philmont" training units
in the LDS training syllabus. Example: I shall be sharing my knowledge of
good places to take Scouts camping from 10:30-11:00a.m. on Saturday, 24 SEP
94 at the Ventura County Council "Little Philmont".
As a reminder to all reading this, I specifically stated in my original
posting in re this thread that I was not "flaming" LDS Scouting. I also
specifically stated that the observations I made might be applicable only to
LDS Scouting in my local area. Finally, I stated that the aims of Scouting
were being well met by the LDS Scouting/YMMIA combination program.
Yours in Scouting,
Rodger
