Subject: AFS Scouts
I recently had a new son, he is a 16 year old from Germany. An AFS Student
son that is. He and several other of the AFS kids were in Scouts in their
various countries, and would like to join or at least participate with my
Scout troop. One boy Diego is from Spain, one Nils from Germany and one
Espen is from Norway. What would help me a great deal is knowing how to
incorporate these kids into the troop.
For example, what do they do when we have an opening and say the pledge of
allegiance? Another, should I try and get a copy of their scout records even
though I know they won't match ours in anyway? Would it be better to make
them J.A.S.M.'s (skill assumed) or should I try and bring them in in some
other capacity?
I would also like to get some background information about scouting in these
countries, at least some understanding of it's structure, i.e. class ranks,
positions of responsibility, etc.
Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Two of the boys are
16 one is 17 and will turn 18 in March.
Thanks in advance.......
