Fund Raisers

Our Troop does a number of fundraisers during the year.
We still charge the BSA standard $35.00 to start with in the begining
of the year. This ensures the scout that they are registered and recieve
"BOY's LIFE".
We have done a Spaggetti Supper for many years now. Most of the
tickets are pre-sold by the scouts. For each ticket sold, the scout earns a
$1.00 for each ticket. This money goes into the Scout's account. All moneys
earned can be applied to Summer camp. For the older boys, the money can be
applied for new uniforms or new gear when approved by the Troop Committee.
We also have Candy Bar sales starting about the middle of September.
Yhis is a 50/50 deal for the scout. A single $1.00 candy bar, .50 goes to
the Scout's account. The Troop makes no money on this sale. We have had
some boys earn a full two weeks stay at summer camp just by Candy Bar sales.
Bottle and Can Drives can also be VERY good fundraisers. They need to
be well planned in advance and there needs to be many adult volunteers to make
it run smoothely. On this type of fundraiser the boys can earn a flat rate
depending upon how many boys work and how much we bring in. On all fundraisers,
except Candy Bar sales, the boys and adults earn between $1-2 dollars an
hour towards the Scout's account.
Here is a breakdown (rough figures) of our troop fundraisers:
Bottle Drive 8 January 1994 $ 1500.00
Spaggetti Supper 5 March 1994 $ 1000.00
Bottle Drive 4 June 1994 $ 975.00
Festival Tent 22-25 July 1994 $ 2000.00
This does not include the Candy Bar sales that the boys also earn for thier
accounts! As with anything, this all takes alot of planning beforehand.
It also takes a great Treasurer to make this all work! A Fundraising
Chairperson also helps.
