Tammy asked about problems with the awards chairperson.
In my experience, the awards chairperson does not decide who gets what. This
is handled by the den leader. Our procedure was to have the den leader submit
a list of awards to the awards chair about a week before pack meeting. The
awards were picked up and prepared by the awards chair. One of my assistants
checked the awards being presented against the lists submitted by the den
leaders. Our check was to see that nothing was accidentally missed but I guess
it could also check for surprise additions.
The den leader should never be surprised by a presentation to a Cub!!
It is possible that 10 achievements could be signed off in three days. Often
I have seen several signed off the same day (but not necessarily done that day)
Deadlines often create a flurry of activity that finishes up several
achievements over a very short period of time.
