Re: All "knot"ed up

In regard to the AOL knot and its "relevancy"--
I believe it to be very relevant. I wear it proudly even though I never
got past 2nd class as a Scout. (They hit us with changed requirements
just when I was ready to get 1st class and we were told there was no
grace period...and I totally lost interest because there was no way
I was going to go back and get all those skill awards for things I'd
already passed under the old requirements. Long story...something
I regret now...:) Considering what it was when I earned it, the AOL
was like graduation for me...it meant I got to wear that green uniform
and go camping. More importantly, it was the continuity of Scouting
in my life (I was a Boy Scout for 4 years...3 of them at 2nd Class...)
that the AOL represented to me, and continues to represent to me today.
I am not a knot fanatic--I think the three I have are very nice and
they are very meaningful to me--but then, we have a trainer in the
council who wears at least 21 of them and it looks a bit ridiculous.
(And it's a well-known open secret that some of them he just <thinks>
he <should> be entitled to.)
Ack. I have no brain today and anything I say should not be held
against me...:)
Sincerely YiS,
Nathan Brindle
