permission slips

My experience with permission slips is that the slip itself is not nearly
as important as the information that should go out with it.
With school events, my sons bring home an outline of what the trip will be
and we can judge whether to allow their participation. The same applies to
scout outings. Each event is judged on it's individual merits and without
the information available to my wife and I, our boys do not participate.
We always provide details on departure, destination, planned activities,
return time, and emergency contact. We do not include a medical release
as this is part of the application form which we carry with us.
