I'm sure that the last several Super Bowls have also allowed those in
the Buffalo area to learn of the need to lose graciously. 8)
I agree with many of the postings here which say that competition is a
necessary part of life and especially of childhood. I've known a
number of people who grew up without doing any competitive activities,
and they always seemed to me to less able to handle it when things
don't go their way. ON the other hand, I don't agree with the idea of
"win at all cost" which tends to be prevalent in many sports. I
think that kids need to learn to compete as hard as they can and
accept the results. The only thing wrong with losing is if you lose
because you didn't try, and that's what we have to convey to the cubs
(Do your best, in other words).
