Maybe those things should be a Pinewood Derby Show and Race, similar to
like a Livestock Show and Rodeo. Then you would have a chance to let
everyone show off their creativity in the design of their cars (which is
about 80% of the fun) and get recognition for that, and the leaders of the
pack can just be real creative with the kinds of awards for that. I mean,
let's face it, the race is mostly luck anyway, so maybe it shouldn't be the
main focus.
