Good memory!

Unfortunately, I am not the Cubmaster. Otherwise, I would have planned
on honoring the winner, my son or not.
One of the boys' mother was a den leader and his father was the committe
chairman. The other boy's mother was the Cubmaster. There was a third boy
whose mother was a den leader. She was worried about her son's reaction.
These four adults, who also planned the Pinewood Derby, all believed it
wasn't fair to let some boys win and others lose. I had my say about it
a committee meeting before the event, but I was outvoted.

Good question!
My son is OK with it now. He was then too. He believes that part of
sportsmanship means not complaining about the outcome. He got plenty
of praise from us, including the trophy we bought. I just posted it
as an interesting question. I've got one son left in the Pack. We'll
see how he fares. Oh, by the way, everyone. I'm terrible with woodworking.
My son did his own car! He gets that from his mother. ;-[
