If an event is a race there will be a winner and everyone else is going to
lose, that is the way it is. That is how you learn to be a gracious winner
and a gracious loser. In life, one person gets the top job, one person
gets the grant, that is just life. Winners should have their success
acknowledged in a not overdone way. The event should be enough fun so that
everyone has a good time just participating. There is nothing wrong with
everyone who participates getting a ribbon or patch, but the winner should
be acknowledged.
