Rick,
If you only been with the Troop 3 months, the first question I have
for you is:
**** Are you trained? Have you gone through Fast Start and
Scoutmaster Fundamentals?????
**** Is anyone else in the Troop trained???
Anyway, back to your problem.. Generally the first rule should be...
No part of weekend deals. The boy should in for the whole deal.
The second question is how did the boy become patrol leader?
If he was not elected, but appointed, there was a big mistake made.
If he was elected, I bet he wouldn't get elected today...
The third thing .. Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are Night and Day.
