February-March Crossover

Howdy:
Here is my two cents about February/March Crossover. In our community
there are three scout troops. There are two cub packs. One has crossover
in February (put in at the urging of the local scoutmasters backed up
by a request from council) and since they have done this, not a single
boy who signed up for scouts has quit after the summer that follows.
Before that, we lost a quarter of those that signed up because they never
made it to a meeting or summer camp. The other pack has only a few going
on to scouts and the pack has been such a bad experience for them that I
don't blame them for thinking it would be more of the same so we won't
count them in my statistical trivia. The first pack is well run and has
a hundred cubs in it with twenty Webelos. For the scout troops, the February
crossover has been a big win.
