2nd attempt...the first one came back (sorry!)

Subj: Short note before bedtime for Mikey

First, after six years and three schools, Jessica Ann Ryan (my
honies and the person that didn't get to go on roadtrips too often this
spring) will graduate from Western Kentucky University with a
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-4). Please extend to her
VIA PERSONAL e-mail only please, your acknowledgement if you are so
inclined to do so. Also let her know where she can find a teaching
job, because she is very anxious to go out and put all of this
edumatcation to work!

Second, it *is* so great to be back here at the Greenwood home, after
traveling south to Chattanooga and back north to Dayton twice now.
Someone *should* warn motorists approaching and leaving Ohio that
Interstate 75 is under MAJOR constuction at SEVERAL places, making the
long travel time even LONGER.

On Tuesday, my mother was examined and her medical team decided to
move her from the intensive card center up to a regular room. She is
doing well, on the 4th floor of Wright-Patterson Medical Center (if
anyone cared to know exactly where she is) in room 408. My father and
her youngest sister are there this weekend. Tuesday afternoon, I
told her about the many people around the world that have prayed for
her recovery and speedy health and she smiled and said "I knew (she
still has problems talking...and her voice is still extremely weak)
--that you had-- lots of friends, but-- around the world?" I've
shared with her the first set of get-well wishes from those that
mailed to me or to the list. Again, I thank you for your greetings,
your prayers and your tidings (and *whispering* please remember that
those things need to be sent via personal mail, and not the list.
That way, we can keep the amount of digested mail down for those that
needed their Scouts-l mail sent to them that way *wink*).

I had another treat: On Wednesday evening, I was invited to attend
and talk with Fairborn's Troop 57...I did, and I'll be posting the
story I told them first here soon.

I have to post another item dealing with some "lost money" here later
too. It's got a personal twist to it, but I find it very appropriate
to share here with all of you in hopes that you will share it with
your Scouters and Scouts.

Finally, I want to again apologize to those that I've promised replies
to (I will reply to your postings and requests soon...things are still
not *exactly back to normal* yet) and to thank all of you for your
thoughts at the dinner table, at work and at your unit and
District/Council meetings for someone's mother whom many of your have
never met. My mother was really touched when I told her of some of
the places where I've received mail from (she doesn't know about
electronic mail and is too stubborn...where I got it from,
admittedly...to try to learn). While the medical team believes that
she suffered a stroke after the operation which is leaving her left
leg numb and unmovable, she is saying it's just a matter of faith and
belief and "holding on" which will make her better. The last things I
was *ordered* to do before I left Friday morning, was to get her some
Freedent chewing gum and to tell my father to bring up all of her
toiletries on the next trip!

Well...I told Jess I would be in bed in 20 minutes, and already it's
after 2am here. So, I'll have to shut off her machine and get some
rest.

I really miss all of you...even the new people on here...the lady of
the house is yelling, so I'd better be gittin'!

Good night...and again, I cannot express my personal thanks and that
of my family to all of you.

Happy Mother's Day!

Settummanque!
